Learning to pole dance was something of a bumpy grind for Olivia Wilde. She had less than two days to master the moves of a brassy, bawdy performer in Butter. But Wilde sashayed with aplomb, with the help of an instructor who specialized in striptease workouts.
“I was stuck in Austria under the volcanic ash cloud and I couldn’t get to Louisiana in time. I got there and they flew a trainer in from S Factor and she taught me at an actual strip club, called Action Central, and got me to the point where they offered me a job there. So if all else fails, you can find me at Action Central,” says Wilde, 28.

When Olivia Wilde comes into the studio, and sits down, her light-green cat’s eyes settle on you with a steady gaze and a mix of curiosity, intelligence, and sensuality. When she speaks about the people of Haiti, her face flushes with tenderness. Her voice is low, measured, and always just a moment away from a throaty laugh. She goes to Haiti often, despite its current cholera epidemic, and is planning another trip shortly after our talk.
 
Olivia’s career is in a thrilling “Wilde brush fire” phase. After roles on The O.C. and The Black Donellys, she was chosen to play the character nicknamed “13″ on HOUSE, opposite Hugh Laurie, starred in Cowboys & Aliens with Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford, TRON: Legacy with Jeff Bridges and Michael Sheen, and currently has six films in post-production. Wilde truly loves Haiti, believes in the cause she speaks for and lends her whole self, not just, as many celebrities do, her name. Her beauty is complete, both inner and outer.

Los Angeles based stylist, Karla Welch is only one half of the styling duo “Kemal + Karla” who rank #5 on THR’s Most Powerful Stylists List . Kemal Harris works with the stars of the east coast while Karla Welch handles the west. The Canadian-born pair have created some of the most talked about red carpet moments from the Oscars to the Golden Globes. Some of their clients include: Hailee Steinfeld, Zooey Dechanel, Stacy Keibler, Paula Patton and of course, Olivia Wilde.
THR caught up with Karla and her client Oliva Wilde. The actress reminisced about her first shoot with Welch for an organic beauty shoot in which Wilde was submerged in a wool suit while trying to balance on top of an apple box.
