Itâs been far too long since weâve seen Olivia Wilde step into her scrubs and in the showâs landmark 150th episode, airing April 11, we learn why: Thirteenâs been in the slammer! And if you think youâre curious to find out why, just wait until you see how desperate House is to crack the case in this incredibly wrenching (and fantastic!) episode.
I have to say, this episode is probably my favorite that Iâve ever done on the show. It explores her return, but it kind of takes the scenic route,â says Wilde, speaking exclusively with EW.
Desperate to find out more, House shows up at the prison gates to collect Thirteen when she is released and ends up taking her on road trip with the goal of getting the truth out of her â and he does. (This is House, after all.) But it comes at a price. âIn order to sort of melt her steely resolve, he has to show a little bit of his own vulnerability, and I think thatâs what makes their interaction ultimately really kind of unusual and really interesting,â Wilde says. âHeâs reaching out to her and showing her his rawness. I think thatâs what encourages her to open up. It also comes after several attempts to throw him off the course. She tries to throw him off the scent, but it doesnât work because heâs too smart. She eventually has to give it up.â
As for what the secret isâŠoh, I canât tell you that. But I can tell you that itâs sort of a secret wrapped in another secret, wrapped in another secret, all of which leads to an amazing moment. By the end of it, youâll never want Thirteen to leave again. At least, thatâs what Hugh Laurie thinks.
Iâd bet money no one will figure out why sheâs in jail before we tell them because until I read it I had no idea,â he says. âI think our fans will be left salivating.â
Taking guesses (and bets) in comments.

Doug Liman first set up Luna with Jake Gyllenhaal at DreamWorks in 2007, then with Paramount, then put it on hold for a couple years to direct Jumper and Fair Game. Liman was actively working on a Three Musketeers adaptation before Paul W.S. Anderson beat him to the punch. So he turned his attention to All You Need Is Kill, a spec sci-fi script with plenty of heat behind it. However, All You Need Is Kill has reportedly lost steam, and Liman has returned his focus to Luna (now âUntitled Moon Projectâ). But Gyllenhaal has since moved on, so Liman is meeting with a bevy of young Hollywood stars to fill the role. Heat Vision indicates the director has already spoken with Rosario Dawson, Megan Fox, Rachel McAdams, Eva Mendes, Zoe Saldana, Olivia Wilde, Andrew Garfield, Emile Hirsch, and Chris Pine, and plans to meet with more names in the coming week.

Equally successful in film and television, Olivia Wilde has starred in an array of roles. On the small screen Wilde can be seen on House and appears in Paul Haggisâ drama The Next Three Days, due out in November. Additionally, she stars as the female lead in the fantasy action film Cowboys and Aliens slated for release later this year. Recently Wilde played the role of Quorra in TRON: Legacy. On the eve of the film’s DVD release in Australia she chats about light suits, Daft Punk and kicking arse in five-inch heels.
Q: What is the human theme of this story?
A: At the center of TRON: Legacy is a family story; itâs a story about a son searching for his father and becoming a man. Many of the great tales are about coming into your own, coming into adulthood, and this is no different than that, itâs just in an alternate universe. But what makes the story work is that despite all the incredible effects, at its core, itâs a solid human family story. That’s why people will relate to it. In fact, one of my favorite scenes in the film is an awkward family dinner scene. I don’t care who you are, everyone has had an awkward family dinner, when you can hear the scratching of forks and knives and clinking of glasses. To do that scene within this incredible world, with this amazing futuristic set, it really represented how the entire film felt. It is just a very simple story within an incredible world. I think that’s how you make these types of films work.

Houseâs titular diagnostician wonât have med student Martha Masters to push around much longer. As first reported by TVLine, Amber Tamblynâs run will wrap up by seasonâs end, if not before May sweeps. And the actressâ decision to discharge herself from Foxâs hit medical drama didnât come easy. âThere is a reason Iâm leaving,â Tamblyn shared as part of this in-depth interview with TVLine, âand itâs a really good reason.â
TVLINE | Before you leave House, will there be any overlap with you and Olivia Wilde?
We have two episodes â one where we actually work together â and it was super, super fun.
TVLINE | Does the fact that Thirteen is back (starting April 11) have anything to do with why Martha leaves?
No, it had more to do with us the actors. They really wanted me to stay, but there are reasons I have to leave, because of other things Iâm doing. It was my 13th episode, and thatâs when Olivia had finished her film and was due back. But I was glad â I was going to be real peeved if I didnât get to do something with her, because Iâve heard nothing but amazing things. My boyfriend (actor/comedian David Cross) has worked with her, and Iâve heard sheâs a really rad chick that I would get along with well. If they hadnât given us at least one scene, with me being the only other female team member, it would have been a missed opportunity. I think they knew better than to pass that up, so they gave us some really cool scenes together. It will be definitely juicy for House fans.
